The Brief

The project was originally tendered prior to our involvement and was split into two parts the first phase was completed by alternative company. We tendered for phase 2 through the NEUPC contract and were successful. The brief which was well defined by the architect was as follows 'The University of Leicester was seeking a partner to supply, delivery and install furniture to create a bright, vibrant & collaborative student area within the David Wilson Library situated on their main campus'

The Solution

Our ability to react quickly to meet the project program was our key strength. Placing orders with our suppliers before receiving an official order ourselves meant we could keep the project on track. This highlights one of our mantras that 'We are commercial not contractual' We understand that the proper paperwork sometimes takes time in some organisations.

With the product ordered we can focus on liaising with the main contractor and other trades to establish a delivery and install program which worked with and around all parties. The installation was completed over the course of one week carefully working around over trades whilst maintaining the utmost care at all times to ensure the other half of the library (which was still operational) wasn't disturbed.

We love having that face-to-face weekly contact with our account manager to ensure everything is going to plan. Gail Ruddle Leicester Uni

Project Insight

We worked closely with Orangebox who manufactured 90% of the product supplied with ranges like Away from the desk, Including Rock, Lano, Reef & Breaker table, cubb, Skomer, On your Jays, & perimeter seating.

The Orangebox design and development of Library specific furniture really showed its strength, integrating technology for students to access, share and showcase their work, as well as giving them the ability to collaborate in a modern library environment.

We were luck enough to witness the first students to use the space and we were overwhelmed with the excitement and positive response… they loved it!
